Some pics of Stockholm

I've been taken many pictures lately with my phone and I thought I should share them!

Mostly it's just pics of pretty much nothing but it's my home so you might still be interested :) hehe

Go Red Sox...and my grandpa

Spent the weekend at my parents' house in Falun and found this photo of my grandfather from mid 90s while looking at some old photos (I'll show you more goodies later). Must say that I was surprised to see that I'm apparently born to be a Red Sox fan and wannabe Bostonian! Plus my grandfather is pretty cool in that hat.

Falling Whistles

I know I should give you an update on my life, but I can't stop myself from spreading this message. After I've been in Africa all this stories and causes tourch my hearth even more than before and I can't resist: I'm buying the whistle!

Check out Falling Whistles if you want a whistles aswell or would like to give a whistle to someone.

Promise an update soon! As you already now my life is busy but I'm sure you're interested in what's going on here in beautiful Stockholm!

Spring in Stockholm

We've had beautiful spring weather the last few days. Blue sky and rather warm weather, barely in the low 60's, but still we Swedes all go crazy and dress as if it were summer. I absolutely love living in the city as I can walk pretty much anywhere I want, hence the huge blistard on my foot. I have to go for a walk with my camera soon because this city in insanely beautiful, so I can show you. Wish you could be here to enjoy it with me!

Some pics from last week: green waffles (I made them), american panncakes for breakfast and spring in the city.

Yet another move

For the second time this year I've moved. From living in the suburbs I now live in the city of Stockholm, with just a short walking distance from downtown. And I must say that I love it, even though I still have to commute to where I intern as it's in the suburbs. But not much beats the view from the t-stop to my new home :) It sure is a beautiful city, our capital!

Me and my piano

Everytime Im at home I have to play some piano. And this is my favorite girl who keeps me company!

Happy Birthday Harry!

I hope that you're having an awesome birthday!! I mde a sparkly cake for you on your special day!
Can't wait to see pictures from birthday parties.
Lots of love,
Kicki

Last weekend...

...in Sweden and a developed country. In a week I'll be in the Maputo, Mozambique ready to explore the capital. I have to tell myself everyday that I'm going to Africa, almost pinch myself, cause it's so surreal.
Today we're heaing downtown to do hopefully the last shopping before leaving the country. Then we'll take a walk to IKEA. We need cinnamon rolls, tons of them, and IKEA has the best (and cheapest). Yum!!!
Love,
Kicki

More pictures...

Some pics from the summer. I might as well not I'm on it =)

Me and my baby, who's not a baby anymore (you might remember him from Christmas?)
Relaxing with my sister Linn in Stockholm
Who doesn't love Stockholm?! =)
Back in school. Smart Kicki learning about doing research in developing countries
With the fam in Stockholm. Waiting to board a small brunch cruise

Three sisters on the move
I can totally tell that my summer was crazy with work an all cause I barely took any pictures... =(
But I promise to be good when I'm in Mozambique. It's now less than two weeks. Starting to freak out a bit, but I will be awesome!
Love, Kicki

An update

My crazy life is getting even more crazier. I'll post pictures soon of my crazy life, but first I'm going to Prague with my sister. Yes, I'm not traveling enough this year that I have to go to Prague for a weekend. Now it's just 24 days unitll we go to Africa, and before that we have tons of things to do, like getting visa and applying for internships. Too much, so we just have to go Prague and get some vacation from this =)
More updates are coming....

Super Yacht

As I was going to work last Sunday I way this huge boat in the harbor just outside work. She was beautiful, and enormous. And of course it was a private yacht and not a smaller cruise ship.
She belongs to a german billionare who baught her for $100 million. I couldn't take my eyes of her all day 'cause it sure was a pretty sight. And she looks bigger in real life than on this picture.

Busy summer

I'm sure you know just what I'm talking about. Although I don't have a family, but still I'm trying really hard to keep everything up. We booked our flight to Mocambique the other week. So it's now official, I'll be in Africa October 20th to December 21th.
Job's busy but fun. I only have one weekend off each month this summer. July passed by way to fast that it's almost scary. I haven't really had a chance to do anything besides gone home to visit my parents for a few days. In mid August I'm going to Stockholm to see my sister and her boyfriend. They are moving to Belgium in the fall for a year. Johan got a job there so Linn is going with him. As you probably can tell, we're a busy family right now, almost too much going on.
I'll give you a better update when I have the time and maybe I even can find some pictures =)

Kicki

Yay for me!!!

Tomorrow me and my sister are leaving for a week in Greece, sort of on a whim. I'll pay less than a ticket to Boston for a whole week in Greece with hotel, flight everything. Pretty good deal! =)
But the most amazing news is that I got the scholarship to write my thesis in tourism in Mocambique in the fall. I'll be going to Africa for two whole months!!!!!! Yay for me!!!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!!!
It's time to post pictures. Busy days, June 3rd summer vacation will start!
I was home along a friday night and had to make pizza
Yum!
Of course I had to have some candy and cheese doodles when I was alone
This was our view from the kitchen window as the laundry room was being renovated.
I woke up one morning with a swollen eye =(
A beautiful spring day in Kalmar
A family excursion to the island outside Kalmar. Found ruins of an old church.
Happy Easter:
Since I'm apparently too old to get candy on easter I had to buy my own egg and fill it with candy.
Painting eggs for our easter breakfast.
My egg (says Happy Easter on in)
Another egg I made the day before.
Our easter breakfast. I even baked scones =)
Our easter dinner (gravlax, pickled herring and eggs)
We went flower picking and found beautiful daffodils.
I'm sure you've already noticed that the table is only set for two, me and my sister. We've been celebrating Easter in Kalmar. Our parents went to Spain to play some golf with friends so we didn't go home for Easter. Although we didn't really have a school break so it wouldn't have worked anyways.
Spring's beautiful this year and our balcony is heaven. School's going alright, a bit tired though. Just found out that I'm not working in June and is starting to freak out since I won't have any money. And the worst thing about that is that i so badly want to go to Boston, and now that I have the time I don't have money.

Summer job

Finally got some good news. I got a summer job at a museum here in Kalmar, and I'm really happy. Already worked 3 days this week just to learn how everything works so that I'll be ready for the summer season. The biggest exhibition at the museum is about a ship that sank outside the city in the 17th century. If I remember it right they found shipwreck at the bottom of the sea in the 80's or something. Hehe. So i'll be working there in the shop, answering the phone, receiving bookings for guided tours and so on. Although this means that I would have the time to come an visit you guys, but I need the money so that I can go next year ;D

Spring has arrived and it's finally getting warmer out. Luckily we have a balcony that we enjoy almost too much, but it's really nice to eat breakfast there for some reason.
I hope you're all going great!!!
Love,
Kicki

Hello

I'm still alive. I'm just, as usual, busy with everything and nothing. Got an exam coming up next friday, scholarship application due next week, job search (for the summer) etc. I'm actually starting to get really nervous. What if I can't  get a job, 'cause I'll need the money?!

Me and my sister is applying for a major scholarship that will make it possible for us to write our thesis in Mozambique next fall, which is a big thing. Two months in Mozambique could be interesting. And on top of that I've decided to try to get an internship at Visit Sweden in New York (Manhattan to be exact) next year. This year two student from my school went, so fingers crossed, next year it might be me going =)
As you might have noticed I have a lot of plan for the next year or so =) My dream is still to go back to the US but the visa is just not that easy to get.

Steph and I talk pretty much every week nowadays which is awesome 'cause I miss her. She's doing great and love being Mrs. Fritz. She just started to work this week at a high school as an art teacher and loves it. But the bad news is that Doug is being deployed in May and will be gone for a year, the first months in California and then Afghanistan (the worst part of the country).
I took some pictures the other weekend that I'm gonna upload soon. And now that spring is getting closer I might have to take my camera for a walk.
Sorry to keep you out of the loop but I promise to get better at updating you on my life over here.

Happy Birthday, Max!!!

I happen to know a birthday boy. He is turning 8 years old today, I repeat, 8 years old. I'm sure you heard the usual birthday song today so I thought this one would be perfect for you!!!
Can't attach the video for some reason so please click here

Happy Birthday, Max. I hope you'll have a great one!!!
Lots of love,
Kicki

Lucia day

Yesterday was Lucia Day, and I must say that Christmas sure is getting closer. And before we know it, it will be the year of 2011. School's finally not as busy anymore. We all want some sort of Christmas break and we'll work hard to get it. I'll be home for more than 2 weeks, and hopefully I won't have to think of school once before I head back.
Me and my sister love our new apartment. Now a days we drink at least a cup of tea everyday and love our very own kitchen. Still having problems with the wireless network, but hopefully by Thursday I'll have it set up. But before that I'll have to take pics of the place so that I can show you (but the sun is up when I'm in school, and down as I get home).
It's now time for me to cook dinner, tiny swedish pancakes (I'll take a picture).
Love,
Kicki
